Chandel molestation case: Mass sit-in to be staged

In continuation of the public agitation against the Chandel incident, a mass sit-in protest will be organized at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound here tomorrow.
A joint statement of the Film Forum Manipur (FFM), Manipur State Shumang Leela Council (MSSLC) and All Manipur Matam Eeshei Kanglup (AMMIK) appealed to all concerned to take part at the demonstration that will begin 11 am on Friday.
The statement also urged the state Government to release all the people pulled up by police during the course of the indefinite Manipur bandh at the earliest.
It said the social organizations condemn the extreme act of the Manipur personnel involved in the killing of TV journalist Kh Dwijamani.
Referring to the killing of Luningla Elizabeth, rape case of a chilli vendor, molestation of a student at Napet Palli and the Pephima incident, the statement said women of Manipur and the public equally took important roles to protest against the above incidents.
The civil society organizations also thank all the women and the public who had agitated against the incidents without showing any discrimination on the ground of being the hill people or the valley people,
it added.
The statement further urged the state Government to punish Livingstone, the self-styled Lt Col of NSCN-IM involved in the assaultation of film artiste Kh Momoko with full knowledge of the public.
It also urged the Government to demolish all the NSCN-IM camps in Manipur and bring peace and harmony in the state.
