Baby carriers distributed

The Imphal West District Health Mission Society today distributed baby carriers to 52 women who delivered their babies in the Sekmai Community Health Centre under the National Rural Health Mission in a function held at the CHC.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Medical Officer Imphal West Dr S Bimolakumari said that the scheme to provide free baby carriers to newborn babies' mothers is a new inclusion in the NRHM by the centre.
In order to make babies healthy, mothers should make them healthy at the first place, she said.
District Family Welfare Officer Dr Kh Usha said that a mother might develop anaemia if she becomes pregnant within seven months from delivering a baby.
Moreover, the baby will become thinner if the mother produces lesser milk.
It is necessary for lactating mother to consult doctors to keep gap within each births.
