Govt tells K-Pro to clear weeds round the clock

The state government today told the K-Pro Private Limited to gear up the clearing of weeds by working in both day and night.
The instruction came with the weeds floating towards Sendra with the rising water level of the lake taking it the most appropriate and easiest time to clear them.
It may be mentioned that K-Pro is taking up the clearing of weeds from Loktak Lake under the North East Council.
Meanwhile, K-Pro is taking up all necessary actions to extend their working hour in the night as per the instruction of the state government.
The company has also arranged 40 trucks for the purpose.
The clearing work halted some days ago sine they could not find places to deposit the weeds.
Regarding the problem, Works Minister K Ranjit and IFCD, Minister N Biren have inspected dumping sites of the weeds.
The two ministers identified five dumping sites during their visit and told K-Pro to dump the cleared weeds at the sites.
The newly identified dumping sites are Chingei Lampak Moirang, areas near Moirang SDO office, Moirang Police Station, Moirang District Hospitals and a round near a government schools.
With the identification of the new dumping sites, government instructed to begin the clearing work following which K-Pro resumed its work from today afternoon.
Weeds can be deposited at the new dumping sites for two months of continuous dumping, an official source said.
K-Pro will also be clearing weeds from Ikop Lake which is a part of the Loktak Lake.
