Condition of rescued abandoned newborn assessed

A team of Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) led by its Chairperson and District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Imphal East has enquired the condition of a newborn baby who was found abandoned near Lamlong bridge on September 23.The team visited Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal East and inquired into the condition of the new born baby girl today, said a statement of the Chairman MCPCR Sumatibala Ningthoujam.
It was reported that one Sarat who runs a shop nearby the bridge heard the baby girl crying and found her at night.
At present the newborn is under the supervision of Imphal East CWC, DPCU, SAA and Child Line.
After discharge from the hospital, the newborn will be entrusted under the care and custody of SAA, Imphal East for taking up further course of actions.
JNIMS Superintendent has informed that all necessary medical helps are being taken up by the hospital to keep the baby healthy, said the statement.
