KTC member acts as Santa for elders

Kangpokpi, December 22 2019: Among the elected Member of Kangpokpi Town Committee, Ward no 12 elected representative, Seijang Sitlhou acted as Santa for senior of his ward at this Christmas season by providing them financial assistance and warm clothes to brave the winter chill.

Seijang Sitlhou, without assistance or collaboration from any organization, extended the help to the elderly people of his ward by acknowledging their contribution to society.

In a simple function held at his residential campus at Ward no 12, Kangpokpi DHQs, Seijang Sitlhou distributed warm shawls and financial assistance to more than 20 elderly persons in the presence of Rev Thangboi David, KTC Member from Ward no 3 and local senior Journalist Kaybie Chongloi.

Hekim Hangshing, president of KWWO and her colleagues Irene Misao, Remte and Chongnu who also attended the function were provided with a Christmas gift by Ward no 12, chairman for their contribution towards the development and upliftment of Kangpokpi DHQs.

Rev Thangboi David invoked a blessing prayer for the senior citizens of Ward no 12 in particular and Kangpokpi DHQs as whole.

At the event, Seijang Sitlhou said that elderly persons should be treated with utmost respect so that they could feel as a part of society and happy.

"It is my wish to make them happy this Christmas season", he said and added that to make them happy is to seek more blessing for my ward whom I represent in the administration of Kangpokpi Town.

Requesting the elderly persons of his ward to approach him without any hesitation whenever they need anything including food, clothes and money, Seijang Sitlhou assured that he would never make them hungry.

Among the elderly persons present, one 85 years old man, while expressing his extreme happiness upon the Ward Chairman, stated that he had never received such love and care from any elected representatives in the 30 years of his life at Kangpokpi DHQs.

It may be recalled that with the initiative and idea of Seijang Sitlhou, who is also the in-charge of Women Affairs in KTC, a mega charity drive was also conducted by KWWO recently to help the poor populace of Kangpokpi DHQs.

Among 17 Wards in Kangpokpi DHQs, Ward no 12 is gradually turning to be the cleanest ward among all by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation with a strict instruction from Ward Member.
