As part of the continued endeavour of the Assam Rifles towards improving healthcare in the wake of ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, an awareness rally cum medical camp was organised at Sajik Tampak today.
The event was attended by large number of local villagers from the neighbouring villages of Sajik Tampak, Chahkap, Twilelon, Molphei, Haika and Paldai, said a statement of IGAR (S) .
Assam Rifles troops started the events by conducting a lecture cum demonstration on the danger of COVID-19, effect of the second wave and the recommended preventive measures along with demonstrations of correct ways of washing hands, wearing of masks and protocols of social distancing.
The lecture concluded with a small talk on health education, hygiene & sanitation, it added.
The staff from the local Primary Health Centre (PHC) and the Sajik COVID Task Force (SCTF) were also invited and felicitated with gifts during the event.
Keeping in mind the problems faced by the locals due to the remoteness of the villages and the difficult socioeconomic conditions forced by the pandemic, the Assam Rifles troops concluded the event by organising a medical camp to cater for the basic medical requirement of the locals.
A large number of villagers were provided treatment during the rally.
The Village chiefs and senior dignitaries also planted 500 saplings along with Assam Rifles authorities.
