World AIDS orphan's day observed

A rally was conducted at Manipur in which various people from all sections and a large number of children and their family members who had been affected by AIDS participated and the rally took out upto Singjamel Super Market.
The rally was arranged by the officials of FXB India Suraksha, Manipur branch here to-day.
A panel discussion held to stress the AIDS orphans related issues like education, nutrition, property inheritance and other rights due to every AIDS orphan.
NGOs, human rights activists, community leaders and government officials participated in the discussion.
K.Pradipkumar, human rights activist stressed the need for a special laws to protect the children affected by HIV/AIDS in various aspects.
He explained the law in practice in India provides free education in government institutions to all AIDS orphans and any children deprived of this benefit may approach law court.
Radharani, said that with all high incidents of AIDS in Manipur, the state does not have PCR machines to diagnose the affection of HIV/AIDS in newly born children.
Some discussion members alleged that the benefits distributed to AIDS orphans by local M.L.As are diverted and misused.
