Three UGs held by security forces

Imphal, April 24 2011:
Three UGs including a KNF(F) suspected to have been involved in the kidnapping of a mason were apprehended by security forces and police commandos from different areas in the last 24-hours.The KNF(P) cadre, self styled 'Area Commander' Haoseh Kipgen (40) son of Late Thangkholam of Kangchup Chingkhong of Senapati district was nabbed by troops of 10 Assam Rifles posted at Kangchup under Logtak Brigade of Red Shield Division in a joint operation with Imphal West Police Commandos from the market of Kangchup Chingkhong village.
A statement of the PIB (DW), Imphal suspect him to be involved in the kidnapping of Karimuddin (40)of Urok Khuman of Thoubal District who was working as a mason at a road construction site between Kangchup and Ireng for a civil contractor in connection with a ' 50 lakh demand from the contractor.
He has been handed over to Lamsang PS, the statement added.
On the other hand, troops of 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector under HQ IGAR (S) apprehended one NSCN (K) cadre from Lamlong Gate of Ukhrul district yesterday around 1 pm.
He was identified as (No.5866) self styled 'Major' Romeo Pomei (30) son of Inaocha Singh of Thanamba of Kalapahar in Senapati district.
A country made pistol was recovered from him and he has been handed over to Imphal West PS today.
Another UG belonging to the Zeliangrong Revolutionary Army (ZRA) was apprehended by troops of 10 Dogra Regiment of 59 Mountain Brigade under Red Shield Division during a search operation in Harouthil village yesterday.
The arrested cadre was identified as Setsi, a resident of Harouthil village.
He has been alleged of involving in masterminding extortions and other illegal activities in the past.
One 7.65 mm pistol, one magazine and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from the cadre.
He and the recovered items have been handed over to Imphal West PS, PIB (DW), Imphal said in another statement.
