Imphal, July 15 2012:
The villagers of Sandang Senba Maring village under Keirao A/C have appealed to the authorities concerned for completion of black topping of the road being carried out in the village since 2010 .
One villager named Angdu informed Hueiyen Lanpao that the road of Sandang Senba Maring Village has never been black topped.
However, in 2010, the black topping of the road began under PMGSY.
Unfortunately, the work has stopped after covering a distance of about 1 km.
He further informed that black-topping along the road leading to Andro and passing through Yaipharok and Sandang Senba Maring Village too had been started and left unfinished still today.
If black-topping works on these roads are completed before the arrival of the monsoons, the problems faced by the villagers would be reduced to a considerable extent.
Sandang Senba Maring village is located just around 3 kilometers from Yaipharok.
Even this short stretch of road has not been black topped and hence the people of Sandang Senba Maring village have never seen black topped roads in their lifetime, he added.
When contacted, the Chief Engineer in-charge of PMGSY, told Hueiyen Lanpao that the process of black topping of the roads in Sandang Senba Maring village has been inspected and found that the contractor involved in the work has not done it properly.
The process would be resumed after the monsoons, the Chief Engineer said.
As for Yaipharok, the equipments for cutting the hill cliffs for making the roads have not yet arrived though process for procurement from outside state long ago.
So, the work could be started only after arrival of the necessary equipments and machines, he added.
