Imphal, December 01 2011:
UCM and AMUCO have jointly announced their decision of boycotting the visit of PM, Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi to Imphal on December 3 .
In a joint statement, President of UCM Yumnamcha Dilipkumar and President of AMUCO KT Rahman asserted that the two central leaders would be visiting only to shed crocodile's tear over the plight of the people with an eye on the upcoming Assembly election.
The joint statement maintained that the government of India has always been trying to break apart the territorial integrity of Manipur and create enmity among the people.
Whether it is imposition of economic blockade along the National Highways or demand for alternative arrangement, the government of India has always added its weight on any issue that challenges the territorial integrity of Manipur.
The recent revelation over Supra-state body proposal offer to NSCN (IM) is the latest gambit of the government of India in this direction and the public should be aware of it.
The two central leaders are coming only to see what new stratagem could be initiated to suppress the people of Manipur further after making them endure crippling economic blockade for over than 100 days.
People of Manipur should understand this fact.
On the other hand, the state government should not live under the impression that the destiny of the people which is tied to the territorial integrity of Manipur can be bargained with promises of economic packages from New Delhi.
The idea of setting up new National Highway while leaving the existing National Highway 53 no better than a Buffalo-pit is unreasonable, the joint statement observed.
The joint statement also appealed to all the people to understand the ploy of the GoI and take a collective decision of boycotting the visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
