Kangpokpi, March 29 2019:
The Kuki Students' Organization, Chandel have decided to put on hold its proposed stir over shifting of Model Residential School from its original site Khengjoi Sub Division to Chandel Headquarters, till next month.
The student body had earlier deferred its proposed 48 hour bandh from March 25 over the issue till April 1 in view of the Chief Minister's and local Minister's assurance to hold a meeting to discuss the matter.
The decision to hold the proposed stir also came after the CM and local Minister assured KSO Chandel in a meeting held today to have another meeting after the Lok Sabha Election.
The State Govt stated that the matter could not be resolved at the moment owing to enforcement of Model Code of Conduct.
The student body had also warned to launch an intense agitation even to the extent of boycotting the BJP in the ensuing Lok Sabha Election if the meeting fails to bring any solution.
Thangjalun Haokip, president KSO Chandel said that the Model Residential School was originally sanctioned for Khengjoi Sub-division considering the remoteness, poor transport and communication network, lack of such facility in the area and most of all the vital need for such facility in the area.
He also said that CM has assured them to meet again on April 30 after the election and assured them to sanction new Model Residential School and send the concerned department for inspection of the site during the meeting.
He further said that various types of agitation could be imposed anytime by the CSOs Chandel, if the State Govt fails to materialize its assurance.
