AIMS demands unconditional release of Kishorchand Wangkhem

Imphal, December 30 2018: Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpang Lup (AIMS), a student body of Manipur , today demanded unconditional release of Kishorchandra Wangkhemcha, who is detent under NSA by the government for his personal opinion regarding the celebration of Jhanshi Rani Day on November 19 this year .

In a press statement, the students' body said that detention of Kishorchandra for 12 months under NSA in connection with his statement at social networking site regarding the celebration of Janshi Rani (Rani Luxmi Bai) is nothing but a direct violation of the Human Rights by committed by the so called largest democracy of the world.

AIMS further stated that India is not a country of one community , but a country of various comuntiy which have their own history , religions and which speaks different languages.

It would be wrong to say that India is a land of Hindi speaking people who follow Hindu Religion, the AIMS added Kishorchandra' s statement regarding Nationalism of Manipur on Facebook doesn't talk about disintegration of India.

There is nothing wrong for a Manipuri to love Manipur more than India.

Detention of Kishorchandra under NSA is nothing but the reflection of the colonial mindset of the government which is likely an act to appease their colonial master .

Before 1947, when India was yet to form, there are 565 kingdoms in the region and Janshi of Rani Luxmi Bai is also a Kingdom among it.

Rani Luxmi Bai of Janshi wage war against the British after her husband died in 1853.The war was against the attempt by the then governor of British India Lord Dalhousi to recognized Ananda Rao as the King of Janshi.

After the dead of Rani of Janshi the Kingdom became a colony of British .

But Manipur become a part of India only after October 15, 1949, and neglecting the history of the erstwhile kingdom while building India will do no good to the people .

No one should restrict to the love for their motherland, but it is better that the celebration of the freedom fighter should be done to their respective region.

India should now look on why the people across the globe have been criticizing to the democracy of the t country .

The AIMS further said that the student body strongly condemn the detention of Kishorchandra Wangkhemcha under NSA and demanded unconditional release of him.
