KSDC public blockade cuts off NH-2 completely

The Kuki State Demand Committee sponsored public blockade clamped at Kuki areas of the State since January 24 has hugely affected normal traffic movement along NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur Road) .
On the other hand, a bandh supporter was hospitalised after he was beaten up by a team of 1st IRB personnel at Kangvai of Churachandpur district today.
Owing to the ongoing bandh, all types of vehicles including goods laden vehicles which transport essential commodities have stopped service since January 25 .
However, a few private vehicles and passenger autorickshaws could be seen plying along the road where the bandh is enforced.
Kangpokpi Bazar wore a deserted look with almost all the shops remaining shut and vehicles off the roads.
A bandh supporter told The Sangai Express that the stir would continue until an understanding regarding the demand of Kuki State is chalked out.
The agitation is being staged with a vision and expectation in accordance with the rights and provisions enshrined in the Constitution of India, he added.

Near Kalapahar, two persons stopped the vehicle of this reporter who went there to cover the bandh and asked him to delete the photographs of the deserted roads of the area from his camera.
The duo also noted down the registration number of the reporter's vehicle.
The two persons questioned the reporter, "Why did you take photograph ? It is our area, take note that it is our area, delete the photographs you have taken" .
However, the ongoing bandh did not affect normal life at Motbung bazar.
On the otherhand, a bandh supporter was hospitalised after he was beaten up by a team of 1st IRB personnel at Kangvai of Churachandpur district.
However, he was discharged after receiving first aid at Zion Clinic, Churachandpur.
The man has been identified as PK Singson.
He was bashed up by the security team as he tried to stop a vehicle coming from Imphal.
KSDC has strongly condemned the conduct of the IRB team which beat up a bandh supporter.
Twelve cars, four autorickshaws,three motorcycles and two Honda Activas were damaged by bandh supporters between Churachandpur and Tuibong yesterday.
A vehicle which transported materials for railway construction was burnt down in Tamenglong this afternoon.
According to information received from the police, no vehicle plied along Imphal-Moreh route.
However, normal traffic movement could be seen towards Chandel district headquarters.
