For 55/1 Chingmun polling station which is located about 300 Kms from Churachandpur district headquarters, EVM and polling personnel would be transported from Churachandpur to Jiribam by helicopter after voting.
Chingmun is among the 34 polling stations of the State where re-poll has been scheduled on February 4. Notably, Chingmun polling station has just 145 voters, 75 males and 70 females, and it comes under Tipaimukh AC.
There is no roadway on which one can proceed up to the polling station.
As such, polling personnel have left for Chingmun today from Churchandpur via Imphal and Jiribam.
The polling personnel would travel up to Chingmun by boat tomorrow.
Though the polling station has just 145 voters, the Chief Electoral Officer has allocated more than a company of central paramilitary forces so that the re-poll can be held in a peaceful manner without any sort of disturbance.
Moreover, the CEO has made arrangements for transporting EVM and polling personnel by a helicopter after the voting is over.
Polling personnel for 55/29 Senvon (B) polling station under Tipaimukh AC, 56/3 Savaipaih polling station under Thanlon AC have also left for their respective destinations today.
The 34 polling stations spread over 11 Assembly Constituencies has 28,076 voters with males comprising 13,788 voters while females constitute the remaining 14,288 voters.
The four polling stations of Chandel AC which would go to re-poll on February 4 has 2631 voters and the four polling stations of Tengnoupal AC has 3228 voters.
The total number of voters for the nine polling stations of Chingai AC where re-poll would be conducted is 6384 voters.
The lone polling station of Mao going for re-poll has 1126 voters whereas the eight polling stations of Tadubi AC have 5720 voters.
The four polling stations spread over Tamenglong Tamei and Nungba ACs which have been identified for re-poll have 2859 voters.
The four polling stations of Tipaimukh, Thanlon and Henglep have 3400 voters.
On the other hand, the Election Commission of India has instructed the Chief Electoral Officer to let central paramilitary forces for the State Police to frisk voters, if necessary during the re-poll.
It said that female voters should be checked by women security personnel.
Meanwhile, a District Council teacher who was detailed for election duty as presiding officer at 56/8 Phaipheng polling station in Thanlon AC has been suspended from service for sending his son to election duty on his behalf.
The suspended teacher has been identified as one Mongkholal.
