Imphal, July 31: The Naga delegation at Dew Delhi today described the Centre�s announcement on July 27 evening that the ceasefire is now reverted back to the status quo ante of June 14 as not only a sellout of incongruity within decision makers in the corridors of power within the Government of India.

In a joint statement the Naga delegation comprising Naga Hoho, NPMHR, UNC and NSF said ever since the valley people unleashed a volley of violence against the ceasefire extension without territorial limits, the Naga people in general have made it a pint to refrain from reacting in any harmful manner.

The Nagas have sought to thrash out any misunderstandings through dialogue and discussions; it said adding that a team of Naga delegation comprising the four Naga bodies as endorsed by the June 17 meeting held under the aegis of Naga Hoho at Kohima has been camping at New Delhi since July 21.The delegation had met various political party leaders including the Prime Minister impressing upon them the necessity of having the peace initiative to continue unhampered.

Stating that the Prime Minister assured the delegation on the morning of July 27 that no review would be done, the statement said the Home Minister�s announcement on the same evening is not only a sell-out of trust but also deliberately show incongruity within decision makers of Government of India.

Naga people want an honorable solution, but �we cannot talk about our honour� without considering India�s honour and those of neighbouring communities, it said.

The statement said the Nagas do not subscribe to the view that Nagas political struggle is the �mother of all insurgencies.� �However, if somebody needs to be blamed we are willing to squarely take it on our face if everyone is equally concerned to look for an answer honestly, setting aside questions which cause more questions which cause more problems than solutions.

Such a meeting point perhaps could restore some of the lost honors, opening the hearts and minds of leaders with wisdom in addressing the reality of the times with truce statesmanship� it added.

The statement said the inconsistency on the part of GOI continues to threaten even the �sweet and sour relationship� from staying afloat not to talk of going forward.

And if history war to repeat itself, past experience says, this ceasefire is also not going to last, not because Nagas want it to break, but because India is never sincere and have only sought appeasement measures as in all other cases.

Seeking to buy too much time can only result in accumulation of problems, it said.

The delegation said that the Nagas continue to work on the minds of the public to become more sensitive to the dealing of Government, which seriously needs support of the people.
