Imphal, July 31:
In all likelihood, the ceasefire between the government of India and the NSCN (IM) will continue, according to reliable sources in Dimapur.
The status quo announced by the Union home Minister, LK Advani will remain, but the NSCN(IM) has sought the official version of the unilateral review from the government of India so as to decide the next plan of action.
With the current spell of the Naga ceasefire, officially enforced in Nagaland, ending today and the extended truce for another year coming into effect tomorrow, the NSCN(IM) said the Bangkok agreement had been reviewed and twisted unilaterally by the Centre.
The NSCN (IM) Steering committee secretary A Z Jami said.
He said we would like to impress upon the Naga people throughout Nagalim that all speculation and confusions regarding the ceasefire coverage were created by the government of India and its agencies.
The outfit also regretted and apologized to the Naga people for not making its position clear in connection with the ceasefire coverage immediately and thereby, putting the people in suspense and inconvenience.
It was due to communication gaps and some technical reason, that the steering committee had to confirm from the collective leadership and secure affirmation from the home authorities, Jami said.
Senior council members at an emergency meeting on July 29 near Dimapur had discussed the gamut of the issue, including the statement by the collective leadership to set at rest all speculation and confusion arising out the divergent stand on the ceasefire review by NSCN (IM) and the Centre.
On July 28, in a statement faxed from Amsterdam, Muivah and Chisi said the Centres decision to restrict the ceasefire to Nagaland only was not acceptable to the Nagas.
In the talks with Centres interlocutor nothing had been finalized on the proposal raised for reviewing the June 14 Bangkok agreement.
This is the truth and the whole truth of the talks.
