Tellen clan chairman alleges

The Tonsen Khullen village chief T Bijoy Kom has misappropriated village funds amounting to about Rs 70 lakh and about 37.30 quintal of rice meant for Mid Day Meal in a period of 6 years (from July 26, 2010 to September/October 2016), T Nathaniel Kom, chairman of the Tellen Clan has alleged.
In a press meet held today at the residence of K Ranjit Kom, chairman of Karung Clan, Chandel district, Tellen Clan chairman T Nathaniel Kom said village development has halted under Bijoy Kom's leadership.
Schools in the area are almost defunct, and Mid Day Meal for children have not been provided, Nathaniel alleged adding that NREGS wages meant for the villagers have been misused by the chief and his followers.
Nathaniel has demanded Bijoy Kom to clarify his involvement in the alleged selling of part of village land to neighbouring village.
The village chief also gave away the original school plot to one M Nungsithoi Kom, he alleged.
He has further appealed to all the concerned to shift the new barrack type teachers quarter which is under construction near the already congested church plot, to the school compound.
Nathaniel further requested the concerned authority/vigilance commission to look into the matter and take urgent and necessary actions.
He has also submitted memorandums to the Deputy Commissioner (CDL), Chief Secretary and Secretary RD & PR at Secretariat Imphal, requesting urgent action on the matter.
M Isaiah Kom, chairman of Mangte Clan, K Ranjit Kom, chairman of Karung Clan, Tonsen Primary School cook and villagers attended today's press meet, this correspondent reports.
