Imphal, December 30 2016:
Mapithel Dam Multipurpose Displaced Villagers Committee has threatened to launch intense agitation if the State Government fails to live up to its promise.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, Ningreingam Kashung, vice president of the Committee, emphasised that a Rehabilitation and Resettlement Agreement was signed between the Committee and the State Government in which the Government promised to provide IFCD jobs to one member of each of the affected family as soon as the ban on works is lifted.
"A recruitment notification for some IFCD posts came out on August 24, 2016 and a two day long interview was held on October 18 and 19 for a total of 137 posts in which 11 individuals from the Mapithel area participated", he said adding that when the result of the interview came out on November 30, individuals having close links to MLAs and Ministers had been selected instead of the people from Mapithel area.
He urged the Government to either cancel or review the DPC or provide IFCD posts to the individuals from the affected families.
"We will go to Delhi and complain directly to the Centre as well as launch necessary protests if the State Government fails to honour its side of the agreement", he added.
