DGAR in State to monitor situation

Imphal, October 05 2012:
Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt Gen Ranbir Singh, AVSM, SM, accompanied by Mrs Shabnam Singh, President of ARWWA,HQ DGAR arrived at Imphal on a three-day visit to the State yesterday.
On arrival at Tulihal Airport here, the DGAR was received by Maj Gen UK Gurung, YSM, IGAR (S).
From there, the General Officer directly proceeded to HQ IGAR(S) at Mantripukhri where he was briefed by Maj Gen UK Gurung,YSM, IGAR(S) on the prevailing security situation in Manipur.
Later during the day, the Director General Assam Rifles along with IGAR(S) called on Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh at the latter's office chamber.
The General officer alongwith IGAR(S) also visited Moreh where he was briefed by commanders on prevailing security situation and development work under taken by Assam Rifles.
A number of cultural and family welfare events were also organized at these locations which were graced by Mrs Shabnam, President of ARWWA, HQ DGAR.
The Director General Assam Rifles interacted with the troops and expressed his satisfaction over the measures being taken in cooperation with civil administration.
He also lauded the efforts of the soldiers in fighting terrorism in the state and asked them to continue with the good work in a professional manner.
