Wages fixed by labour department demanded

All Manipur Shops and Establishment Employees Association has decided to look into the condition of salesman working in different shop establishment and ensure that they are given the minimum wages as fixed by the Labour department of the state.
Reliable sources from the All Manipur Shops and Establishment Employees Association, reveals that according to the Minimum Wages Act 1948, notification no.4/2891191 .
Lab dated 18-2-2011, the daily wages of all labourers working in shops as salesman should be chalk out and given at the end of every month.
The wages fixed by the labour department for unskill labour is Rs.122.10/day, Rs.129.97 for semi skill labourers and Rs.132.50 for skill labourers.
It has already been notified by the department that these wages fixed should be implemented by 1st of February this year.
But still no shop establishment in the state has so far gone by the rules of the Minimum Wages Act 1948.So All Manipur Shops and Establishment Employees Association has decided to look into the matter and ensure that the labourers get their right share.
In this regard the association will be organizing a meeting to chalk out plans on the 19th of July at Irabot Bhawan.
