Imphal, May 03 2012:
In a move to pacify the disgruntled Congress MLAs who miss the bus of Ministry expansion, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh is all set to appoint eight Parliamentary Secretaries and a number of Chairpersons soon.
According to a reliable source, soon after the State Cabinet gave its approval to the Manipur Parliamentary Secretary (Appointment, Salary, Allowance and Miscellaneous) Ordinance 2012, yesterday, the matter was notified to the Governor.
The source revealed that although the post of Parliamentary Secretary is equivalent to that of Cabinet Minister, none of the Congress MLAs have shown willingness to accept the post.
However, if the Parliamentary Secretaries are to be made in-charge of certain departments, there is every likelihood that the MLAs would accept the post.
But as of now there is no guarantee that the post of Parliamentary Secretary would be given the charge of a department.
If an MLA is appointed as Parliamentary Secretary, he/she would not be allowed to travel with a flag post of the Indian flag tagged on his/her vehicle.
But he/she would be answerable to queries raised by other MLAs MLAs inside the Assembly session, the source informed.
Meanwhile, the government has discussed appointment of Chairpersons of MOBC, PDA and others.
MLA Md Amin Shah is the most likely candidate to the post of Chairman of MOBC.
