8 civilians, 13 suspected UGs and three CRPF personnel killed in poll related violence

At least eight civilians, 13 suspected UG cadres and three CRPF personnel were killed and 20 civilians injured in the state after the Election Code of Conduct came into effect from December 28 last year.
With CorCom's threat to INC candidates and workers, bomb and gun attacks were carried out at 130 different places by different UG organisations.
According to sources, security personnel including, state police, CDOs and para military forces killed 13 suspected UG cadres in alleged encounter during the period of one month.
Nine 9mm pistols, 25 live rounds, 16 hand grenades, one Kinetic Honda, one AK 56 Rifles and four RDX were also recovered from them.
On the polling day, four polling personnel including the presiding officer, one CRPF personnel, one civilian and one NSCN-IM cadre were killed at 41/40 Tampi Polling Station in Chandel A/C.A 76 years old woman was also killed while another injured when suspected ZUF cadres attacked an election office of INC at Khoupum under Nungba A/C on January 26.On January 22, an INC worker was killed in a grenade attack at the house of INC candidate of Singjamei A/C I Hemochandra.
In the same incident five other person were also wounded.
Besides, CDOs and para military forces apprehended 105 UG cadres of 19 different UG organisations during the period of one month.
Three AK series Rifles, Ten 9mm pistolstwo lathode guns, 19 hand grenades, 359 bullets, six lathode bomb shells, eight detonators, two IEDs, 10 mobile handsets, three electronic devices, one laptop, one printer and three cars were also recovered from the apprehended cadres.
