Drugs seized

Imphal, September 08 2020:
A team of Anti-Drug Cell Unit of Jiribam District led by Head Constable Arambam Chingnangkhomba Luwang under the supervision of Dy SP(R) K Gitchandra Singh seized contraband drugs from a Tata Sumo during routine frisking and checking at Leingangpokpi frisking point along NH-37 this morning at 10.30 .
According to a release, a 'Tata Sumo' car was stopped for checking.
One rice bag was found in between the front and rear seat.
A packed bundle wrapped with cellotape was found concealed inside the rice bag and on opening the packed bundle, 50 small bags containing 10,000 WY tablets were found.
The driver identified himself as Md Sahidur Ahamad (48) of Kwakta Khuman, Ward No 8, Bishnupur district.
The driver along with the seized WY tablets were produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Jiribam.
A case has been registered at Jiribam Police Station for further investigation.
Attempt to establish the ownership of the seized contraband drugs are being followed, the release added.
