Imphal, March 31, 2011:
Only 40 kms from Imphal, it takes three hours to reach Thangal village in Tamenglong district due to the deplorable condition of Tongjei Maril.
This portion, from Bishnupur to Thangal village is perhaps the worst route in the state, observed our reporter.
who covered the stretch for a coverage of a thanksgiving-cum-felicitation programme given to M Daniel, who was elected as member of the ADC from Dolang ADC constituency.
The terrible condition of the road has claimed the lives of many ailing people while being transported to hospitals in Imphal.
A villager said that the major portion of the road lies within the Nungba A/C, the constituency which elected MPCC president Gaikhangam as their representative.
Gaikhangam has been representing the people of this constituency continuously for the last 35 years but he is not interested in improving the road, the villager alleged.
Gaikhangam's indifference has made the road what it is today, he said alleging that Gaikhangam has never taken any interest in improving the road which also closely related with the history of the state.
This reporter along with other team members travelled on the road going to Thangal village where villagers extended a warm welcome to the ADC member M Daniel.
Haokholal Singson, MADC Langpi circle, and SG Panmei, MADC Khoupum circle accompanied M Daniel in the tour.
The thanksgiving-cum-felicitation function held at the Thangal (Longjang) helipad.
