IDCF 2019 launched in districts

Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight 2019 which will create awareness to achieve zero child deaths due to diarrhoea has been launched in districts across the Statetoday.
The programme will continue till June 9.Jiribam: District Health Society Jiribam, under National Health Mission, launched the programme today at CMO office in Babupara, Jiribam.
Dr Elangbam Okendro Singh, CMO, Jiribam 50 Bedded hospital, Dr Soroja Devi, MO and Dr Chitramala Devi, MO in-charge attended the event as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Elangbam Okendro Singh said that the programme aims at educating people about diarrhoea among children.
Children should be given Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and Zinc supplement when diagnosed with diarrhoea, he said.
The programme will cover schools.
Teachers, ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers will be informed about the various precautionary measures and control measures to avoid diarrhoea, he said.
Dr Soroja Devi also spoke at the event and urged parents to take extra care of their children.
Senapati: The Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF), 2019 was launched by Thisho Kriina, Dy Chairman, Health, Science & Technology, ADC, Senapati as the chief guest at Karong Community Hall.
The program was organised by the District Health Society, Senapati, presided by Dr Loli Mao, Director, CHO, DHS, Senapati.
Speaking as the president of the function, Dr Loli Mao said that 43 out of 1,000 of children below 5 years die due to diarrhoea every year.
However, with the launching of the Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) by the Govt of India, the death rate has decreased to 39 in the year 2015-16.Diarrhoea is known to have caused by a virus called Rotavirus.
Proper way of washing hands was also demonstrated at the event.
ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, mothers, teachers and officials of Education Department of the district also attended the event.
Tengnoupal: In Tengnoupal district, the programme was launched at the conference hall of DC Office today.
Dr Lalthari Hmar, CMO Tengnoupal, Dr Kh Gojen Singh, District Immunization Officer, Bobby, SDO Tengnoupal, Hussain Ali, Inspector of School, W Dhanabati, Social Welfare Officer and S Devata Devi, CDPO Tengnoupal attended the event.
Students of St Peter School also attended the event.
Thoubal: The IDCF 2019 was launched in Thoubal district at Kshetrileikai High School.
District Mission Director and CMO Dr N Jayantakumar, District Welfare Officer Dr Ksh Memcha Devi, Programme Officer T Anita Devi, ZEO Zone-Ill Thoubal MES A Rebika Devi and Kshetrileikai High School Headmistress Ningthoujam Bimola Devi attended the event as presidium members.
District Health Society Thoubal and National Programme For Control of Blindness Thoubal distributed power glasses to 14 identified students of the school.
