'One Day Master Volunteers Training Programme' held

Imphal, November 21 2020:
A one day master volunteers training programme on "Prevention of substance and alcohol abuse" was organised by District Administration and District Social Welfare, Imphal West at Institute of Cooperative Management, Lamphelpat today.
The training programme organised under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) scheme of Minority of Social Justice and Empowerment was attended by N Praveen, DC Imphal West as the chief guest; Konsam Saroja, Deputy Director, Social Welfare Department as functional president and Konsam Ramesh, Imphal West District Social Welfare Officer as guest of honour.
Speaking at the occasion, N Praveen said that the training programme was held in line with the prevention of substance and alcohol abuse campaign which was kicked off on August 15 this year under NMBA scheme.
The campaign will- culminate on March 31 next year, he said.
Of the '2271 districts short-listed from all over the country, 9 have been listed from Manipur, he said while adding that volunteers from these districts will be trained how to help drug abusers across the State refrain from narcotic substances and create awareness about the ill effects of drug abuse in the society.
These trained volunteers will also link up with NGOs in various districts and Anganwadi centres to raise awareness about issues, he said.
He also appealed to all to join hands in making Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan a fruitful scheme that would eradicate all issues related to drug abuse from the Nation on the occasion.
