Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board observed Mera Chaorel Houba at Haying Khongbal, Uphong Yumpham today.
Commemorating the observation, a rally was taken out from the premises of the board to Kangla where a religious ritual was performed.
Art & Culture Minister L Jayantakumar and vice-president of Lainingthou Sanamahi Temple Board, Bidyapati Senjam took part in the observance function.
Speaking on the occasion, Jayantakumar maintained that Mera Chaorel Houba also referred as Mera Menkhong Sengba is observed to seek blessings from Ema Leimarel Sidabi and Lainingthou Sanamahi for peace and plentiful harvests.

He asserted that the festival is also an occasion to promote and strengthen the age-old relationship between the people living in the hills and the valley.
The Minister observed that there has been a mass participation of elderly persons and youth in the festival which is recognised by Government of India.
Informing that preparation has been made to observe Mera Chaorel Houba at the State level considering significances of the festival, he emphasised on the need to further strengthen the cordial relationship shared by the hills and the valley to maintain peace and tranquility in the State.
