2nd Rhizome Festival begins

The '2nd Rhizome Festival' was kicked off today at Ningtam Ingkhol in Maning Ching, Tekcham with the aim to promote State's indigenous food and rare medicinal plants.
The opening ceremony of the three days festival jointly organized by Auxiliary For People's Action (RAPA) Lamding in collaboration with State AYUSH Society, Directorate of AYUSH Manipur till July 21 was attended by Health & Family Welfare Minister L Jayantakumar; Director AYUSH, Dr L Promila Devi; member secretary, Manipur State Medicinal Plants Board, Dr A Guneshwor Sharma; Addl Director, AYUSH, Dr Y Lukhoi Singh and publicity secretary, Veteran Sports Organisation Khongjom Circle, Soibam Inaocha Meitei as presidium members.

Speaking at the occasion, minister L Jayentakumar said that the treatment procedure of AYUSH is widely accepted by all across the globe.
Saying that Manipur is home to many medicinal plants, every efforts was taken up by the Govt of India to promote the AYUSH treatment in the State which is a boon for the public as well as the State in terms of economic and health.
Proprietor, Ningtam Ingkhol who is also Secretary of RAPA, Laishram Subhachandra said that indigenous and rare foods and medicinal plants such as Kanghu, Yai Amuba, Yai Angouba, Haa, Khutchappi, Tekhao Yaikhu, Uri Moinambi, Pulei Manbi, Yaingang, Shing, Thambou, Mangra, Pan and Koukha will be made available at the stalls during the three days festival.
As part of the festival, cultural activities of various ethnic communities will be shown while painting competition, speech competition, quiz competition will be conducted for the students.
