2nd Konjengbam Parijat award

The 2nd Konjengbam Parijat Ningshing award, 2012 were distributed during a function organised by Puwari Khongul Leeba Lup at Ima Medhabati Public School at Langjing Achouba today.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Leishemba Sanajaoba, the titular King of Manipur, said that one cannot claim himself to be developed just by knowing the history of others while neglecting the history of the society he/she belongs to.
He further said that we should not just send our children to mission schools and made them learn about the world and have some fluency in speaking foreign languages.
They should be also taught about the history of the state, its culture and traditions.

Without understanding the culture, traditions and the overall history of one's Motherland, it would be just waste of time and money and this whole process would ultimately make our society an ownerless one.
We should remember that in most developed states of the world like Japan, America, China and others, the children are taught about the culture, traditions and history of their respective states so that their cultures and traditions remain intact, the titular king observed.
The toppers of the drawing competition organized for students of class V to VIII, based on the Puyas of Manipur were awarded with 2nd Konjengbam Parijat Ningshing award at the occasion.
Sh Santosh of Grace Korjei and Educational Development Foundation bagged the first prize, L Roshan of Regular English School, Kwakeithel bagged the second price and the third prize was awarded to Jackson Akoijam of New Era English School.
Consolation prizes were also distributed.
The function was presided over by Chingsubam Ongbi Wangambi, President of MNF.
Prof Thoijingjam Tombi, Dr Hamom Nabachandra, Secretary COHSEM and Ibobi, ex-Principal Oriental College were also present as Guests of honour.
