S/C Post-Matric Scholarship to be disbursed from May 21

Imphal, May 16 2012:
The pending Post-Metric Scholarship for Schedule Caste students for the year 2010-11 amounting to Rs 55 lakhs would be disbursed starting from May 21, 2012 onwards according to a notification issued by Kh Dineshchandra, Director of MOBC&SC, Manipur.
According to the notification, the requisite APRs/documents are to be submitted by the selected students/institutions to the Directorate of Minorities, Other Backward Classes & Schedule Castes, Government of Manipur and details can be had from the Scheme Officer concerned during office hours.
The notification further appealed to all organizations concerned to call off any form of agitations including general strike/bandh contemplated in connection with non-disbursement of Schedule Caste Post-Metric Scholarship, 2010-11 forthwith.
Meanwhile, an official of the Directorate of MOBC and SC, while talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, informed that earlier all works related to schedule caste of the state were taken up by the Directorate of Tribal Development and Hills.
But according to another notification issued by the State Government in 2012, schedule caste was included under the Directorate of MOBC and since then all related files of Schedule caste have been handed over to the Directorate of MOBC.
The officer further informed that selection of students for the post matric scholarship, which was completed by the Tribal Development, has been handed over to the Directorate of MOBC along with the amount to be disbursed.
The Schedule Caste Post-Matric Scholarship is a centrally sponsored scheme under which scholarship is given to schedule caste students annually.
All schedule caste students who fulfill the criteria and submit the related forms are awarded the scholarship.
Process has also been initiated to give out the schedule caste post metric scholarship for the year 2011-12 and the related amount for the said scholarship released by the Central government and is at present in the account of the Tribal Development Directorate.
The funds can be further credited to the account of Directorate of MOBC after an approval comes from the Finance Department, the officer disclosed.
