While the 20 cadres team of KCP-MC (Nongdrenkhomba) headed by its Commander Prithvingamba handed over four AK rifles; one lathode gun, two 9mm pistols; seven .32 pistols; one M-23 rifle; one Uzi rifle; four grenades and 178 rounds of live bullet.
Addressing the gathering as chief guest, Chief Minister O Ibobi called upon the underground cadres to come forward for peaceful dialogue to overcome problems confronting the State and appealed to the concerned armed organizations which are waging war for liberation to shun all forms of violence once for all considering the welfare of present and younger generation.
The CM stated that violence cannot bring solution to any problem as history says it all, while calling upon the concerned underground outfits to join the mainstream and move forward towards bringing collective growth and development in the State.
Exuding confidence that the 57 cadres who surrendered today to join the mainstream would send a message to other fellow cadres, Ibobi reiterated that the government had already removed Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) 1958 from seven Assembly segments but subversive activities including bomb blast, monetary demand and killing have been continuing unabated which is unfortunate.
Absolute peace in the State will be prevailed only after underground cadres laid down their arms and join the mainstream, the CM asserted.
Ibobi went on to say that the government has been ensuring that those cadres who surrendered before the government receive proper accommodation and other needs to lead a normal life.
Presiding over the ceremony, Deputy CM Gaikhangam who is also the Home Minister said that since India is a parliamentary democratic country, people have the right to express their views but the expression should not be the one that incites violence which could hamper peace and tranquility in the society.
He further said that underground cadres who are struggling for liberation are brothers and sisters, while expressing hope that they would also join the mainstream in the same way the 57 cadres have done today.
During the home coming ceremony, a Memorandum of Understanding was inked between the government and KCP (KK Nganba) .
The MoU was signed by J Sueshbabu, Principal Secretary (Home) representing the State, while the KCP (KK Nganba) group was represented by its Chairman Ch Manglemjao alias KK Nganba.
