Training on Cane & Bamboo handicrafts and Basketry items concludes

The 15 days training programme for Cane & Bamboo handicrafts and to make basketry items concluded today at WD training centre Khaivaren, Ukhrul District.
Priyo Kumar Singh, Manager, Training CBTC Burnihat Assam, who attended the valedictory function as chief guest, stressed on the need to develop and impart the technical knowledge for the mass production of Cane and Bamboo products.
He continued that the country has for the first time imported technology of making Cane and Bamboo products from other countries in 2002 and the technology still continued to develop.
He went on to mention that more than 1600 items can be
produced or manufactured from bamboo alone.
The 15 days training programme was conducted to ensure that the local youths acquired the skill to make the cane & bamboo products and basketry items.
While expressing gratitude to CBTC for their technical input, Artax Shimray said that they (WD training centre & CBTC) should come together to take up the project of developing and making cane & bamboo product and basketry items jointly.
Later, the chief guest distributed certificates to 28 participants of the training and appreciated Janeth Hungyo chairperson WD governing body.
The programme was also attended by project director Jubilate Kazingmei, Governing members and WD staffs.
The 3rd batch skill training programme on Cane & Bamboo handicrafts and Basketry making was organized by WD, Ukhrul under the sponsorship of NEC and CBTC.
