Two Meira paibi leaders arrested as PLA activists

Imphal, April 10 2012:
Acting on credible information, Imphal West district commandos arrested one active female member of RPF/PLA from her residence at around 10.45 am on April 9, said a statement issued today by SP (IW) .
Identifying the arrested woman as RK (O) Landhoni Devi (57) s/o RK Ibomcha Singh of Thangmeiband Lourung Purel Leikai, the SP said Landhoni disclosed of working under one SS Lt Kanan Devi, a women wing commander of RPF/PLA, since one year ago.
Besides revealing that she is a secretary of Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Lup, Landhoni also disclosed of distributing money to various women organisations of Manipur for the upcoming April 13 (Athouba Numit) celebration, which was handed over to her by an unknown woman through Kanan, the SP's statement claimed.
Two mobile handsets and Rs 20,000 have reportedly been recovered from Landhoni's possession.
Meanwhile, a woman identified as Takhelambam Rajeshwari Devi (49) wife of T Thoiba of Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai, presently staying at Khabam Lamkhai, and who is also the President of All Manipur Meira Paibi Association was arrested by a team of Imphal West commandos from Lamshang area today.
During verification, she was said to have disclosed that she was sent to Kangchup/Lamshang area to mobilise the public for offering floral tribute to the deceased PLA cadres at Cheiraoching on April 13 under the direction of one ss Sgt Tesu of PLA, a statement issued by the SP of Imphal West claimed.
