All Jiribam Kali Puja Committee to celebrate platinum jubilee with much fervour

All Jiribam Kali Puja Committee is making their best efforts to celebrate platinum jubilee of Kali Puja in Jiribam with much fervour and enthusiasm.
Taposh Roy, grandson of late Jotindro Mohon Roy, the first Kali puja organising committee member, is the president of this year Kali Puja Celebration Committee while Bappa Roy Secretary of All Jiribam Kali Puja Committee along with other members of the committee as well as youth brigades under the leadership of Taposh Roy, are working hard and soul to celebrate the platinum jubilee and to make it grand success.
According to the Puja Committee, in connection with the platinum jubilee celebration, the procession of idol of goddess Kali will start from Chirepool on November 5, one day ahead of puja and will be brought to the mandop.
After the completion of Puja and Archana, the idol will be immersed on November 10, it added.
It may be mentioned that Jiribam is one of the densely populated area of Manipur and the area is located at the western edge of Manipur topographically, for which it is also known as "Western Gateway" of Manipur.
According to report appeared in Silchar based Bengali vernacular daily -"The settlement at Jiribam started from the commencement of nineteenth century.
The people's movement to the Jiribam was started through Barak and Jiri rivers, due to which it's turned into big business hub, during the period the area was under the reign of Manipur Maharaj".
It was also mentioned that, since 1891 to 1941, Manipur was ruled by Maharaj Churachand Singh and then from 1941, Maharaj Bodhachandra Singh, the descendant of Maharaj Churachand Singh, ruled over Manipur till the Manipur merged with India and became part of Republic of India.
In 1940, Maojadar was appointed to rule Jiribam for administrative convenience which was later converted into ADC office.
It has been reported that the first Kali puja was held in 1943 at Kali Mandob, Jiribam during the pre-independence period.
It was learnt from a reliable source that late Jotindro Mohon Roy, late Kunjobihari Das Purkayastha, late Samchoron Dey, late Bosonto Shil, late Pobitro Kumar Das along with some of the then local leaders of the area started the puja.
