Army, AR celebrate 64th Republic Day

The 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector and units of Red Shield Division celebrated 64th Republic Day with the local populace.
At Lilong, a patriotic function was organised by 40 AR in Darool-Uloom Madarsa in which about 400 students attended the event.
According to a PRO IGAR (S) release Mushaira (a poetic symposium) was followed by a patriotic group song and distribution of sweets, rations and gifts to the students by the AR unit.
A medical checkup camp was also conducted as a part of the event.
To commemorate 64th Republic Day, 40 AR of 9 Sector presented stationery, sports items and sweets to UJB LP School, Khoripok village at Keithelmanbi under Op Samaritan.
Commander 9 Sector AR Brig MK Das presented the items and interacted with the staff and students of the school.
In another occasion, 27 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector provided material and administrative assistance for organising the first Juvenile Association Football Championship 2013 at Kakching.
A large number of enthusiastic spectators including various civil dignitaries of the area present during the opening match.
On the conclusion of an exhilarating match between Juvenile Club and Senapati Athletics Organisation, Juvenile Club won the match.
Meanwhile, troops of Red Shield Division celebrated 64th Republic Day at INA Memorial High School at Kwakta.
The National flag hoisted by Loktak Brigade Commander Brig PC Nair and a ceremonial salute was given to the Indian Tricolors.
Sweets were distributed to all the students and local populace.
Stationery items including notebook, geometry box, clip board etc were also distributed to INA Memorial High School and St John's School Gothal, under the military civic action programme.
The event was graced by melodious patriotic songs sung by Phillora Jazz Band.
Various cultural events were organized for the civilian population by the school children.
The ceremony was attended by about 600 locals and school children, informed a PIB (DW) release.
Similarly, troops of Senapati Brigade celebrated Republic Day by visiting the orphanages at Saikul, Kanglatongbi and Charhajare.
A flag hoisting ceremony was organised at these orphanages.
The children celebrated by singing the national anthem, patriotic songs and presenting a cultural programme while the security forces distributed sweets and gifts to the children of orphanage and sports equipment to the Saijang Youth Club in Saikul on the occasion.
A flag hoisting ceremony, march past and a cultural programme was also organised at Jwalamukhi Public School, Lairoching wherein patriotic songs and folk dance were presented by the students of the school.
Sweets and gifts were also distributed to locals during the celebration.
