Truce with 'K' to be extended; with 'IM' still unknown

Ceasefire between the Government of India and the NSCN group headed by S.S Khaplang will be extended for one more year after the current term ends in the next few days.
The ceasefire term ends on April 28 .
Official sources said leaders of the NSCN-K and New Delhi had agreed on extension of the ceasefire after the April 28 expiry in the national capital on April 22 .
However, it is not clear whether the two sides had signed the agreement.
Intelligence sources informed Newmai News Network today that leaders of the NSCN-K had camped in New Delhi recently and agreed on one more year extension term of ceasefire on Monday.
In the meeting, Sambhu Singh, who is the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in-charge of North East region, led the side of Government of India.
In 2001, NSCN-K signed the ceasefire agreement for the first time with the Government of India.
However, no political dialogues have begun between the two parties till date.
Meanwhile, Ceasefire Supervisory Board of the NSCN-K secretary H.K Sema informed NNN that the five members his team after a prolong and cordial meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) representatives had signed the extension of one year Ceasefire which expires on April 28, 2013 at New Delhi on Monday.
The five member NSCN-K team led by senior leader Wangtin Naga had a lengthy meeting with MHA representatives including Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), North East in-charge Shambhu Singh and other officials.
After discussing the pros and cons and other important issues of the ongoing cease fire had finally agreed to extend it for one year and was inked by NSCN-K supervisor Lincoln on behalf of the outfit in presence of the all other members.
"The maturity and sincerity which was exhibited by the government of India representatives in dealing with the world's longest running conflict is a positive step inching towards bringing peaceful solution to the problem which had caused loss of many precious lives and properties on both sides," the NSCN-K leader said today.
The NSCN-K then said it is committed towards bringing solution to the Naga political problem and shall always strive towards the people's desire for solving the issue through peaceful means at the earliest.
The NSCN-K member comprise of Kilonser Wangtin Naga, supervisor Lincoln, Kilonser P.Tikhat, Kilonser Hukato and member secretary CFSB H.K.Sema.
In the meantime, the supervisor of the CFSB NSCN-K Kilonser Lincoln deeply appreciated the government of India (GOI) for better understanding of the situation which leaded to extension of the CF for another one year aimed at bringing peaceful solution to the prolonged Naga political issue at the earliest possible time, according to H.K Sema.
On the other hand, the ceasefire term between the Khole-Kitovi group of the NSCN too will expire on April 28.However, it is not yet certain as to whether the parties in matter had signed for extension of the ceasefire or not.
Like NSCN-K, the Khole-Kitovi group too has not yet started political dialogue so far.
The ceasefire agreement between the NSCN group headed by Isak Chisi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah was signed in 1997 with the NDA government and it has been followed by a series of formal political dialogues with no solution in sight at all.
