Churachandpur, December 15 2016:
The Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur today convened an emergency meeting wherein it adopted a stand to recommend creation of two more new districts as well as to oppose the bifurcation of Thanlon sub-division.
The ADC meeting attended by 20 Members was held at ADC hall here.
Though the Members expressed their approval on the State Government's decision to create new districts in the State, they expressed apprehension over the decision to split Thanlon sub-division and therefore decided to take the matter to the State Government.
Presided by ADC, Churachandpur Chairman Langkhanpau Guite, the meeting also resolved to urge the State Government to create two new districts by clubbing the existing Singngat AC and Churachandpur AC and naming it as Lamka district while Henglep AC and Saikot AC should be clubbed and name it as Tuibong district.
They also expressed disappointment on the failure to consult the Hill Areas Committee (HAC), ADC Members as well as the other stakeholders before creating the new district.
The 20 Members have given their approval for the recognition of 6 new villages in the district but spurned the application of two villages.
