Protest against power sub-station continues

Imphal, July 15 2016 :
In continuation of the demand to abort construc-
tion of a power sub-station inside Yairipok
(Aided) High School campus, the students of
the school demolished the worker's tents set up inside the school
campus at around 12:30 pm today.
Yairipok police team arrived
later at the spot and controlled the situation.
Two students sus-
tained minor injuries in the commotion.
They were admitted at
Yairipok CHC, our correspondent reports.
Yairipok police also arrested three members of the JAC
formed against the construction of the power sub-station.
They have been identified as Maibam Matouleibi, Maibam
Malemnganbi and Akoijam Neerupama.
Demanding immediate release of the trio, the Yairipok
Bishnunaha locals and Yairipok (Aided) High School stu-
dents blocked the road leading to Yairipok bazar at different
places till 6 pm.
According to a student, the JAC members
had nothing to do with the demolition of the workers' tents.
They arrived at the school campus only to check on the
protesting students .
