CSOs Kpi suspend boycott call, two non-SoO outfits declare boycott of I-Day

Kangpokpi, August 12 2019:
Honoring the spirit of Independence Day celebration, the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) of Kangpokpi District under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District decided to withdraw the boycott of I-day called in connection with the issue of the district while two non-SoO Kuki outfits have declared boycott of Independence Day celebration in the hill districts of the State, reports our correspondent.
The CSOs under the aegis of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District had earlier warned of boycotting India's Independence Day as its first step of agitation to be followed by various other form of intense stir over the alleged non-empowerment of newly created Kangpokpi District despite of Govt's repeated assurance for the implementation of all the necessary powers and functions to fully empower the district.
It had demanded the State Government to fulfill its assurance and commitment to the people of Kangpokpi in practical by issuing all necessary official orders to fully empower the district before August 15 while warning to boycott the Independence Day in the form of 36 hours total shutdown from 6 am of August 15 till 6 pm of the next day including total shutdown along the two important National Highways - NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur) road and NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) road as its first step of agitation.
However, in a joint meeting held yesterday at Kangpokpi DHQs in the presence of Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi District and Chief Association, the CSOs have decided to back away from boycotting the Independence Day and suspend its proposed stir for a while.
The CSOs Kangpokpi, however, remind the State Govt that its proposed stirs could be resumed anytime and it will be wise on the part of the Govt to do the needful.
Meanwhile, two non-SoO militant groups, the Kuki National Front-Nehlun (KNF-N) and Socialist Democratic Front of Kukiland (SDKF) have decided to boycott Independence Day in the Hill districts of Manipur to be commenced from the evening of August 14 till the dusk of August 15.The outfit's Information and Publicity Secretary, Gou alias Kuki said that they are not against peace but against the Framework Agreement as it will result in chaos and hatred among the dwellers of the State.
On the other hand, another non-SoO Kuki militant Socialist Democratic Front of Kukiland (SDFK) while highlighting its unwavering stance on its demand for Kuki State has also decided to boycott Independence Day and appealed all to support total shutdown on August 15 .
