Imphal, June 04 2018:
Students of Millennium Institute of Science (MIS) took out a protest rally today, demanding immediate withdrawal of the FIR lodged against three teachers of the school in connection with an alleged assault case against one of the school's student a few days back.
Speaking to media persons, the students condemned the lodging of an FIR against the teachers and claimed that the allegations levelled against their teachers by one of the student are false and baseless.
The students said that the claim of the student is false and misleading.
The baseless allegation against their teachers by the student has created a tense atmosphere among the students of the school and cast the school in the wrong light in the eyes of the public.
The students further said that they have boycotted their examination and will continue to boycott their classes until and unless Lamphel police withdraw the FIR lodged against the teachers.
They also appealed for bringing a peaceful atmosphere inside the school campus at the earliest.
On the other hand, the teachers of the institute explained that the students refused to go to their class rooms for the examination and protested in the school complex.
Later, at around noon, the students of the institute took out a protest demonstration outside the school campus and headed toward Lamphel PS with their demand.
A large number of students were detained by Lamphel SDPO at Kwakeithel bazar but the protesting students broke through and marched further toward Keishampat.
Soon after, a large number of Imphal West district police arrived at the spot and escorted the protesting students to prevent any kind of unwanted incident.
The police team prevented the students from proceeding further at Keishampat Leimayum Leikai community hall and after an understanding was brought between the police and protesting students, they proceeded toward Wahengbam Leikai to Sagolband and concluded their protest inside the school complex.
