Chavang Kut at Barak Valley

The 1st Barak Valley Chavang Kut 2012 was held at Manikbond Village of Karimganj District on November 1 .
Kukis of Barak Valley (Cachar, Hailakandi and Karimganj District) and from various places like Manipur, Mizoram, NC Hills and Nagaland also attended the celebration.
The day session of the festival was graced by Pu Joydath Chorei, President, Kuki Innpi, Barak Valley; Pu Monilal Gowala, Parliamentary Secretary, Government of Assam and Pu Thanglun Changsan, Advisor, Kuki Inpi Assam as Kut Pa, Chief Guest and Functional President respectively.
Cultural Troupes of Nomjang-NC Hills, Chorei, Halam, Reang, Darlong and Hranglong presented their respective traditional dance, informed a statement issued by Ngamkholen Haokip, president of KSO-Silchar.
The Chief Guest of the session unveiled the commemoration stone laid by the Kuki Inpi Barak Valley to mark the 1st Barak Valley Chavang Kut.
Pu Joydath Chorei, KUT-PA released the Kut Souvenir published by the committee.
Pu Ngirvansiek Chorei the First Graduated (1964), Christian and Preacher among the Chorei of Langoi Valley was also felicitated on the occasion.
For the development of the region and the Kuki people the Kuki Inpi Barak Valley submitted 11 point memorandum to the Chief Guest.
The 11 point memorandum includes the demand of Autonomous Development Council for Kukis of the Barak Valley, construction of proper communication system to all villages with proper facility of higher secondary schools and health care centre's, land allocation and construction of Cultural Heritage Complex at Karimganj.
The night session was filled with most excitement and merry making as the Barak Valley Mister and Miss Kut Contest � 2012 was held which was graced by KK Gupta, Additional Superintendent of Police, Karimganj.
Miss Evelyn from Chinjol, Assam won the title of Miss Kut 2012, Miss Navi Haolai, Haflong and Susmita Chorei, Manikbond were adjudged the first and second runners-up respectively.
The title of Mister Kut 2012 went to James Chorei while Philip Chorei and Vanmunsiek Chorei, all from Manikbond Village were declared the 1st and 2nd runners-up respectively.
Chavang Kut Band from NC Hills, Joahua Hranglong from Naogoan, Tripura and various artistes from Nomjang, Tripura, Manikbond enthralled the audiences, Ngamlen added.
