MoU on Bus service between Imphal and Mandalay on the card

The Government of India and the Government of Myanmar are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for introducing bus service between Imphal and Mandalay.
For this, draft protocol which should be followed by the Government of Manipur has been already received.
An official source informed that India and Myanmar would sign the MoU after the State Government submits necessary information to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways within two weeks.
The draft protocol sent by New Delhi to the State Government in connection with the proposed trans-border bus service includes details of tour operators, bus designs, fares, medical facilities, insurance as well as number of trips.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Central Inter-Ministerial Group which was specifically set up for the Imphal-Mandalay bus service was held recently at New Delhi with Joint Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways S Narendra in the chair.
The meeting which was also attended by Principal Secretary (Works) Ram Muivah decided to develop necessary infrastructure for the trans-border bus service by the State Government in consultation with the Home Ministry.
The meeting also discussed about conducting a trial run of the trans-border bus service.
Even as Tamu-Kalewa highway has developed a lot, the Government of India has already announced to develop/repair all the worn out portions on Tamu-Mandalay highway.
