IED found at Wangjing

One Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found today at Wangjing along NH 2 at about 6.20 am.
A police source informed that the IED planted beside the highway was detected by troops of 15 Assam Rifles who were on ROP duty.
The bomb was retrieved by bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police after which it was set off at Thoubal Khunou foothills at about noon.
The spot where the IED was found is close to the area where another blast was triggered targeting an AR convoy in the morning of October 26.On account of the IED detected at Wangjing, traffic along NH 2 was disrupted for sometime.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the PRO of Hqs IG AR (S) claimed that troops of 15th AR have averted a major disaster by detecting the IED.
The IED consisted of 3.5 Kgs of RDX, two slots fitted with three detonators each, a claymore shape tightly packed in steel box, 12 batteries and RC receivers.
It further said the nefarious designs of all UG groups to disturb peace in Manipur would be thwarted.
