Water Resources Minister Letpao Haokip has stated that an assessment for issuing work orders for restoration and reinforcement of breached river banks has been completed.
Letpao was replying to a query raised by Fazur Rahim during question hour in the State Assembly today.
As per the assessment, it is estimated that restoration and reinforcement of breached river banks would require around Rs 175 crore.
He said that necessary work orders would be issued as soon as the existing fiscal deficit improves a little.
The department has been lobbying with the Ministry of Water Resources for a Rs 435.98 crore project and the Ministry has assured that the amount may be sanctioned in phase manner, Letpao said.
He also acknowledged that MLAs contributed a lot in restoring breached river banks at the time of floods.
The Water Resources Minister also assured that all possible precautionary measures would be taken up before the next Monsoon season.
Responding to a question raised by MLA O Henry, Labour Minister Th Radheshyam said that 2313 individuals have been given training under the Skill Development Mission and 401 of them have been given placements.
The Centre set a target of imparting training to 32472 people in the State between March 2017 and 2020 under the PMKVY.
But the State's training providers took a long time in accustoming themselves to the process of handling the skill management accreditation and central accreditation affiliation portal.
So far, 48 training providers have applied for the scheme and 14 of them have trained 2313 individuals, Radheshyam said.
Replying to Dr Chaltonlien Amo, Works Minister Th Biswajit said that Churachandpur-Tipaimukh road was handed over to BRO after it was upgraded to the status of a National Highway in 1999.The same road was taken over by NHIDCL in 2017 and three contractors have started constructing the road and certain portions would be completed shortly, Biswajit said.
