Bishnupur, December 23 2019:
To compensate at some extent for the low production of agricultural products due to deficit rainfall the State receives this year, House no 1 of Loktak Lift Irrigation Project, which is situated near Ningthoukhong Project, has started providing water to Imphal Main Canal and Moiang Low-Level Canal since Sunday.
It is reported that the water supplied by the House no 1 will be sufficient for irrigating at least 8,000 pari of paddy fields covered by the two canals in planting winter plants/vegetables.
Speaking to media persons during a visit at the project, Oinam Assembly MLA, L Radhakishor Singh said that the initiative is being taken up to help the farmers in winter cropping so that they could make up for the loss to some extent and also to help them prepare fully for the coming cropping season.
