Imphal, January 23, 2012:
Strongly condemning rape of a State girl in Delhi on January 18, the Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) has ruled the possibility of the people of Manipur turning against the India Government one day if such incidents are unabated.
In a press statement, Publicity Secretary of MSF, Th Shyamsunder Luwang pointed out that even if the people of Manipur knew well that Manipur was forcibly annexed after the then King Bodhachandra was made to sign merger agreement at Shillong on October 15, 1949, the people of Manipur had, on some condition, accepted India as their own motherland.
However, people living in different states of India fail to look at people of the North East as Indian citizens.
It is not expected that they would consider the people of NE as Indian in future.
Drawing a lesson on how different communities of Manipur live together as one, India Government should imbibe such moral on its common people, the statement added.
It also cautioned parents to take necessary preventive measures for the safety of their children while sending them out of the State.
