Manipur College students demand justice for Richard Loitam

Imphal, May 16 2012:
The students of Manipur College braved the rain staging a sit-in-protest for 2-hours against the lagging policy of the Indian Government in handling the murder cases of Richard Loitam and O Labba, said a statement issued by the Manipur College Students' Union.
The students of the college demanded justice in both the cases and urged the authorities to book those accused at the earliest.
The Union slammed the cursory attitude of the Manipur Government also stating that as a democratic State it should function in a secular manner and refrain from racial profiling.
Meanwhile, students of Thambal Marik College, Oinam, condoling the the demise of the two students,also urged the authorities to take immediate action against those guilty.
In a statement, the Students' Union demanded the Government of Manipur to look into the matter and ensure security of Manipuri students studying outside so as to avoid recurrence of such incidents.
