Governor Dr Najma Heptulla interacted with the members of All India Service Officers & Wives' Association at the visiting hall of Raj Bhavan yesterday .
Culture, attires, music, dance, food, habits, passions, travelling and charity were discussed during the interactive session.
Wives of Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur, RR Rashmi; ADG, Pramod Asthana; PA to Chief Minister, Ashok Kumar; SP Imphal East, Kabib; Principal Secretary, Tribal Development, L Lakher; Commissioner, Fishery, Athui Panmei; Additional PCCF L Baite; MD, Manipur Police Housing, P Mallana Goud; IFS, Dr Lokho Puni; DC Imphal West, Geoffrey Ningthoujam; Commissioner of Taxes, Hrisheekesh Modak; Additional Chief Secretary, Dr Suhel Akhtar and DGP, Government of Manipur, LM Khaute took part in the light interaction .
Appreciating Manipuri traditional attires for its unique beauty, Governor Najma Heptulla said that she is going to present Manipuri dhoti and kurta to the President of the country .
"In order to promote and preserve Manipuri ethnic and traditional costumes, I will invite some very good friends of mine who are designers at the International level to come to Manipur.
Traditional is traditional and modern is modern, it should not be mixed", she said .
Stating that the Manipuris have a great fondness for dance and music, she invited the wives of 13 high ranking officials present today to celebrate Holi, 2018 with her .
The Governor noted that women can partipicate in community development by engaging in social welfare activities like taking care of garbage in their localities, starting a book club, doing small charitable works at their level and even establishing a women association with the objective of doing some innovative, collaborative services for the betterment of society .
During the interaction, The Governor expressed her love for literature, saying that all her three daughters are role models with well-settled lives and doing brilliantly in their respective fields viz.
medicine, banking and audit management .
She also talked about her preference for sari to other dresses as a unique Indian costume.
She also said that she is planning to wear one beautiful one on the final day of the upcoming Sangai Festival next month.
She also assured the elite women present at the interaction session that she is ready to extend co-operation and all possible help if they wish to initiate any innovative task for social and community development of the State.
