Chaga Gadi Ngee celebrated in Dimapur

Dimapur, November 01 2017:
The Liangmai community in Dimapur celebrated Chaga Gadi Ngee with fervor and gaity at Orchid Ground UNB, Naga Colony, Burma Camp in Dimapur yesterday, conveyed a press release issued by Liangmai Union Burma Camp, Dimapur .
Various kinds of Liangmai cultural items were presented by different groups on the occasion .
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Founder and Director of Grace Mission International National Overseer, Rev Joshua Wijonamai, dwelt on the importance of unity among the people.
He also stressed on the importance of preserving and promoting one's culture and tradition .
Also speaking on the occasion as guest of honour, Editor of NNN, Witoubou Newmai, mentioned about the reasons for celebrating the Chaga Gadi Ngee.
He said that the identity consciousness of smaller communities has been sharpened with the changing social dynamics of the world .
Witoubou Newmai also told the gathering not to simply celebrate the festival just for the sake of celebrating it but to acknowledge the inner meaning of the festival .
Liangmai elder Arou Chawang narrated the history of Chaga Gadi Ngee while another Liangmai elder Ch Widinbo shared his thought about the event .
Artiste Samuel Lotha and Abuiiu enthralled the gathering with songs while Wisaisuiliu Chawang presented a Liangmai folk song.
Dipuangbo cheered up the crowd with his talent show.
A Liangmai traditional show was also held by children and a a pork eating competition was also held, at the end of the event .
The programme was opened with a prayer from pastor of ULBC, Dr Solomon Newmai.
