Imphal, October 29 2010: A combined team of Imphal West district police commandos and 39 Assam Rifles troops arrested an active member of KCP from Thangmeiband Lilashing Khongnangkhong.

He has been identified as Tongjam Arjun Singh alias Neon (25) s/o Bhobon Singh of Lilong Chajing Pukhri Achouba Mapal.

In another incident, soldiers of 12 Madras Regiment and 12 Maratha Light Infantry apprehended s/s lieutenant Thoudam Bobby Singh alias Laisana alias Ibomcha (33) s/o Jugeshwar Singh of Thoubal Mayai Leikai.

One 9 mm pistol and some ammunition were seized from him, said a press release issued by PRO PIB (DW).

In another joint search operation, the press release added, troops of Red Shield Division and IGAR (S) nabbed one UNLF cadre from Saiton Khunou.

The person has been identified as s/s lance corporal Sana Takhellambam (30) s/o Khusha Takhellambam of Saiton Khunou.

He confessed to have been involved in a number of incidents of attacks on security forces and undergone training in 2001, said the press release.

In another incident, one KYKL cadre identified as Sorokhaibam Brojen (27) s/o S Ibocha of Wangoo Mamang Sabal was apprehended by a combined team of Thoubal police commandos and troops of 21 AR during a frisking and checking exercise at Sekmaijin Bazar at about 11.10 am yesterday, said a press release issued from the office of Thoubal SP.

On the other hand, Imphal West commandos apprehended one KCP (MC) activist from Lamphel Sana Keithel at about 4.40 pm yesterday.

Two Chinese hand grenades were also recovered from the house of the KCP(MC) activist identified as Lairenlakpam Abom (19) s/o L Thoiba of Thamnapokpi, informed a press release issued by the Imphal West SSP.

Meanwhile, one cadre each of the PULF (MI Khan) and UNLF outfits have been apprehended by troops of 39 AR and 12 Maratha LI of 9 Sector from Kairang area where an operation was conducted in the wee hours today, said a PRO IGAR (S) release.

The release identified the PULF cadre as Pukhrimayum Ranjit Khan (24) of Kairang Chingya and the UNLF man as Chesham Jtaem Ali (33) of Kairang Awang Leikai.

Both have been handed over to Imphal East district police station.

In yet another incident, one RPF/PLA cadre identified as Sarungbam Nandakumar (40) s/o late S Nipamacha of Haoreibi Awang Leikai was arrested by Imphal West commandos from his house at about 2.45 am of October 27 .

Some incriminating documents relating to RPF/PLA and one mobile handset were seized from his possession, said the Imphal West SSP in a press release.

On the other hand, one female sympathiser of KCP-MC identified as Wahengbam (O) Subadani (45) w/o W Rupachandra of Yumnam Patlou Mayai Leikai was pulled up from the gate of Birhari College, Khundrakpam at about 3.30 pm of October 26, said a press release issued from the office of Imphal East SP.

She reportedly disclosed that one of his son namely Wahengbam Ibohal alias Mangang is an active member of KCP-MC.

Further, two UNLF cadres were apprehended by troops of 21 AR and 23 AR during a search operation in Lamjao area at about 1.30 am yesterday.

The UNLF cadres have been identified as Sh Ojit Sharma (37) s/o B Laljit Sharma of Lamjao and Arunkumar (41) s/o Ibocha of Lamjao Makha Leikai.

They have been handed over to Kakching police station together with 12 live rounds of AK 47 and nine detonators seized from them, said a press release issued by PRO of Assam Rifles.
